Tushy

Because I couldn't think of just one title when I started writing this, I wanted to share some of the others in the running....

I'm Not Shitting You, This is THE...

Your Derrière Will Never Go Back

I've Got a Clean Butt & I Can Not Lie

They may not be that great, but they made me smile, so I thought I'd share :D

Anyway!!!

Bidets really aren't all that new. You probably remember hearing about them in History class or the famous line 'You Used Jay-Z & Beyonce's Matching His & Hers Bidets?', but finding one in person doesn't seem to happen too often {at least in the States}... until Tushy! This US-based company is making it easy for all of our bathrooms to enter the 21st century {because, let's face it, dry toilet paper is so 19th century, as they say}.

Why I Love Tushy

1. It gets the job done. I was apprehensive at first. I thought, 'Does this actually work?'. After introducing this little gadget into my life, I wish all toilets had one. Can we get a to-go version, please? :P

2. It saves toilet paper, which gives your wallet and the planet a break. Did you know Americans spend more on TP than any other country? It also takes 437 billion gallons of water to press the paper down. Not to mention the 253,000 tons of bleach and 15 million trees used in the process, too. You can replace that with a couple of sheets of bamboo TP and 1 liter of water.

3. It's healthier for you. Wiping with dry paper creates around 30 million annual cases of hemorrhoids, UTIs, yeast infections, anal fissures, anal itching, and other annoyances. So sustainability, to me, is about your health, too!

4. It's easy to install. If I can install it, you can. I'm not very handy, and if I have to use a hardware tool, I feel alien to the process. This gadget took me 10 minutes to get up and running.

5. It gives back. For every bidet sold, a family in rural India is given one month of access to clean community toilets.

How to Use Tushy

There are two types of Tushys - the Tushy Classic, which gives you a cool spray, and the Tushy Spa, which gives you a choice between cool and warm sprays. My boyfriend is all for the warm, but I like the cool. If you are next to a sink, you can use the Tushy Spa; otherwise, the Classic is more for your potty. They both have pressure & angle control and require no electricity or plumbing. Simply turn the knob to your preference, and voila - instant clean butt. It's seriously a bathroom game-changer. I don't think I ever want to go back :P

Of course, you don't want to be dripping wet, so I use a couple of sheets of Bamboo Toilet Paper to dry up. This guilt-free, two-ply TP is made with unbleached bamboo fibers. It comes in plastic-free packaging and is BPA-free for better health.

Where to Buy Tushy

You can find all of Tushy's products online - here -

Check out how you can get $10 for every friend you refer {it's the far right tab on their website} because your friends need this!!

Enjoy your new clean bum ;) & you're welcome.

More Dry, Less Frizz & Damage-Free | These Organic Cotton Towels Are Your Wet Hair's Go-To

Sunrise Bliss (Formerly Lakeshore Dry Goods)

I've used a towel to dry my hair since I was a little girl. It's the first thing I do before stepping out of the shower. With long hair, you have to. Otherwise, your wet hair gets in the way of drying off properly. Until now, I've always had a cotton terry towel for this. Just your regular bathroom towel. As of this month, I'm officially done with that. The Sunrise Bliss T-Shirt Towel is exactly what my hair has always needed. To say I'm excited to find this is an understatement; I'm ecstatic - such a practical creation - one you scratch your head and think, "Why didn't I come up with this?!'. Pam beat us to the punch one sunny summer day at the beach. She had read a beauty tip in a magazine telling her to use a soft cotton t-shirt towel to dry her hair. Sitting and listing to the waves, a new business venture idea was born.

Why I Love The Sunrise Bliss T-Shirt Towel

1. It's practical. Especially living by the ocean and a pool, I spend a lot of days with wet hair. So having one of these towels has cut my drying time in half. I use one every time I wash my hair, as well. Seriously - one of my beauty musts!!!

2. The material. Each towel is made from GOTS Certified Organic Cotton {with low impact dyes} and is incredibly lightweight & soft. It's a t-shirt-type fabric with excellent stretch retention, too. Plus, they are made right in the US {Detroit}!

3. The prints. Okay, how cute are those flamingos? I mean, really.. I love a fun animal print, and this one screams my home state of Florida. There's even a pretty floral one, too. That's next on my list...

My Favorite Prints

I keep the Polka Dot print in my bathroom and the Flamingo at my grandparent's place {where the refreshing pool and beach reside}. Going for 2-3 prints is most convenient if you are a busybody like me. Shower, pool, gym - repeat :D

One of Pam's favorite parts about owning this business is picking out new fabrics and threads, so we can't wait to see what she has in store!!

Have an easy, breezy time drying off at the beach or pool or shower or gym, or you get the point ;)

You'll Never Guess These Sustainable Bags Are Made From Recycled Plastic

PagaBags

Yes - this awesome backpack is made from plastic bags! Who would have thought? This ethical brand is changing the game when dealing with waste. Not only are they making do with what we already have, but they are supporting sustainable livelihoods for their artisans. It makes my heart happy when a brand can go full circle and not only think about their impact on the planet but enrich the lives of others who need it most. Meredyth Bowler Ailloud, the founder, saw an opportunity {during her women empowerment projects in West Africa} to create a social company in Burkina Faso. She wanted to highlight their talents and produce goods that would support their local communities and clean up the environment.

Why I Love PagaBags

1. The artisan support. After witnessing their traditions & creativity in weaving and sewing, Meredyth knew there was so much potential, and she wanted to share it with the world. So they have partnered with a handful of men and 40 women waste collectors, plastic cutters, weavers, sewers, batik makers, and bead-makers. They also provide healthcare and on-site professional training. Seeing the women being able to return to school excites the three women-led teams of PagaBags.

2. The materials. Their bags are made from a unique woven blend of vibrantly colored {local} cotton threads and recycled plastic bags. They also use traditional batiks, mud-painted cotton, faso dan fani cloth {"woven cloth of the homeland"}, and wax. Even their dyes are non-toxic.

3. The art. By now, I am sure you know how obsessed I am with fashion that tells a story. Using traditional techniques to dress up the fabric shows much about their culture. Likewise, the pops of color you can find in the handbags reflect the local people.

4. The quality. Now, I don't want the words 'plastic bags' giving anyone the wrong idea. These backpacks and totes are made to last!

5. The versatility. This has to deal primarily with their new necklaces. I am OBSESSED {as I'm sure you can tell by all the photos}. I am having fun styling these beautiful strands.

What I'm Wearing

I've been channeling my inner school girl {not that backpacks are just for school} with my Sky Blue Backpack. I say this because I've been using it for my computer & notebooks and taking it to the local coffee shop. It's the perfect size for it!! Plus, it comes complete with an outside and inside pocket. Isn't the batik lining fun?! I love a good contrast. I will also use this backpack for my long walks this summer.

Need some more organization for your bag? The Sky Blue Bag in a Bag is exactly what you need, so you don't have to dig for your phone and wallet {it's big enough for both and then some}. Worth getting both of these items together!

Okay, these Knotted Necklaces are my new favorite accessory. While I love wearing them on my head like a crown, you can wear them as a belt or necklace. I went for the choker look on the necklace, but you can see a few different ways to wear it on their site, too. Each necklace is made from plastic and glass repurposed by Burkina Faso & Ghana women's groups.

A Sustainable Slumber That's Affordable, Organic & Fair

with Under the Canopy

Are you working on building that perfect eco oasis but running into budget issues, or need help finding something to fit your style? I feel you on this. I've been in that very situation. Finding ethically-made, attractive bedding at a reasonable price is difficult. Most of us don't even want to think about spending hundreds of dollars to dress our beds. There is also a misconception that organic bedding has to cost a pretty penny - after all, it's organic. I'm unsure when 'organic' became synonymous with 'expensive,' but I need to get people thinking differently about the term. Under the Canopy is my perfect example of this, and they've been bringing conscious consumers quality, organic, and fair products since the beginning.

Why I Love Under the Canopy

1. Their aesthetic. This is one of the first bedding brands I have found where I looked at their comforters and said, 'I WANT THAT!'. Their prints are practical yet chic and awesome at creating contrasting pillow prints to add a little pop to your room.

2. Their commitment to a cleaner planet and home goods industry. They adhere to 6 certifications {FAIR TRADE, GOTS, OEKO-TEX, C2C, RCS & FSC}, and sustainability is at the forefront of their business model. In addition, all products are made ethically with eco-minded materials.

3. Their mission. They want everyone included in the movement toward conscious consumerism. Therefore, their products are affordable, accessible, and attractive.

4. Their quality. We have been sleeping with the Aztec comforter for the last month and love it. It's soft, comfortable, and warm and washes well. The robe feels like total luxury, too.

Cool fact: Under the Canopy helped aid the creation of GOTS certification of organic cotton.

What's In My Room

While Under the Canopy has four beautiful collections, the Abstract Aztec caught my attention right away {the little symbols within the stripes are like little hearts - too cute <3}! I love the muted grey & white, and for the weeks you want fewer patterns, you can reverse it over to its charcoal grey side {yup, it's reversible}. The outer fabric is GOTS cotton, and the material used to fill the comforter is their patented EcoPure fiberfill made from recycled plastic bottles. Pretty cool, right?!

To make you even more comfortable, they've also created a line of robes. The robe I wear in these photos is their Organic Cotton Waffle style. It is undyed to keep its rich, natural cotton color and comes with a detachable belt & two big front pockets. It's the perfect thing to throw on after your shower! Plus, the more you wash it, the softer it becomes.

Where to Buy

You can purchase all Under the Canopy products in their online shop - here -

Enjoy your new Eco Slumber my fellow world changers :D

#periodpositivity | Be Kind to the Planet & Your Body with hannahpads

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by hannahpads. We only ever add brands & products we truly believe in. Thank you for supporting the brands who are making the beauty industry a better place!

& their Certified Organic Cotton Cloth Pads

It's a topic we don't touch upon enough, but how you decide to handle your period can negatively or positively impact you and the environment. Whether it be the cup, tampons, or pads, I know we all have our preference, and some of us {myself included}, will dabble in all three depending on the day. However, there is one option I find to be the healthiest for my body and less wasteful than its alternatives - & that's the pad. While I typically go with organic tampons & cups when I'm out and about, pads are my go-to at home, and the days I have more control over {obviously not spending my beach days in one!}. I've had numerous women over the year tell me how they prefer to use pads, but the conventional ones you usually find at your local grocery store are full of chemicals and additives. Luckily, hannahpads wants to treat your most sensitive area right, so they only use organic cotton! Plus, their prints are super cute. It's almost exciting to use them...

Important to note: As someone with a blood disorder, I've always been told by doctors to use pads to lessen bleeding. I notice a difference in flow depending on what I use, so I always found this to be good advice! Just in case you wanted some, too :D

Okay, organic cloth pads are one of the most natural ways to deal with bleeding. Now what about the environmental aspect? They say women use up to 16,000 pads & tampons throughout their entire life. Disposable items take a crazy amount of resources to create, and most are even individually wrapped. That's a ton of waste we can avoid. With hannahpads, your organic cloth pads last you years and then biodegrade. Not to mention, you are saving thousands of dollars by switching to reusable cloth.

hannahpads are unbleached, undyed & chemical-free organic cotton. Instead of a PUL layer, they use a special waterproof coating to allow air to flow through more freely, which Greenpeace recommends.

We all have different bodies and flows, so hannahpads has us covered. You can choose from 6 different sizes {pantyliners, small, medium, overnight, ultra overnight & super ultra overnight} and buy them in singlesmultiples, or sets. They even have a few extras you shouldn't leave your cart without. For example, their Probiotic Soap is full of effective microorganisms working to clear the pad of unwanted bacteria. The sweet Pouch is made to keep all your hannahpads together, and they even have a Hanger to make drying easier.

Besides the beautiful patterns, I love hannahpads because they work - they are comfortable, leak-proof AND eco-conscious. What more do we want on our periods? {I guess some good snacks :P}
