LA Relaxed

I am SO happy to see LA Relaxed is back with a brand-new collection!! I have a lot of their pieces from the last four years that I wear quite often. They have been in my top 5 favorites since the beginning, and you will love them as much as I do! …. I mean... Oprah does! ;)

Three Reasons to Love LA Relaxed

Comfy Fabrics: Modal, hemp, organic cotton, tencel - all SO cozy and run laps around polyester. I speak about them a lot on the blog, but if you want a quick run down & see which LA Relaxed pieces are made from what, you can find that - here -

Practical Designs: As I said initially, I wear LA Relaxed a lot. Their clothing is excellent for busy women who want to look still good but feel incredibly comfortable at the same time.

Made Ethically in the USA: While not all of my clothes are made in the USA, I do think it’s important for most of your closet to come from the country you live in. By shipping shorter distances, brands can easily ensure quality and working conditions and reduce their carbon footprint.

What I’m Wearing

The Jumpsuit: In case you missed it, Oprah named this piece one of her favorites this past holiday. I mean, that’s a big deal - and it makes me very excited to see such a respected name highlight a product made here in the US with a great blended fabric of modal and cotton. It makes for a great travel piece {I wore it on the plane for our trip overseas}, and even excellent for breastfeeding.

All the Wild Roses

I have my fourth piece from All the Wild Roses, and my closet seems more lovely now! I’ve always loved their carefree vibes and flowy silhouettes—they’re refreshing in sustainable fashion’s sea of basic tees and sack dresses!

Three Reasons to Love All the Wild Roses

The Style: I've always considered this brand the ethical Free People. It's romantic, free-spirited, and all-around lovely. Their dresses are the ones you would imagine someone frolicking through the fields in a bed of poppies - which I did! ;)

The Fabrics: This is another beautiful example of how someone else's trash is another one's treasure… All the Wild Roses uses a lot of surplus fabrics, which are too pretty not to be made into a new dress!

The Versatility: Several people ask me where they can find semi-formal dresses to wear to a wedding or an event. I never have many options to give them, but an All the Wild Roses design can easily pair with some heels to make it 'formal' ready! I love a dress that you can throw on all different types of shoes and come out with a totally different look.

What I'm Wearing

Anneke Embroidered Cotton Dress: Inspired by one of Hang's, the creator's favorite vintage dresses, the Anneke is made from a beautiful textured embroidered cotton. It reminds me of dresses I had as a child, but the sophisticated and chic version!

Vintage Sweater: This is new to All the Wild Roses since I last had them featured on the blog. They now have a great collection of vintage pieces that fit perfectly into their aesthetic. & who doesn't love oversized, bulky sweaters?!

A Review of the Women’s Bison Puffer Jacket

from United by Blue

This practical yet sleek jacket was gifted to me a few months before my trip to England. I’ve been patiently waiting to test it out since it’s meant for 0-50 degrees, and Florida hasn’t entirely dipped to those numbers yet. I have to say, it’s been perfect for traveling and wearing in the English weather!

The Bison Puffer Jacket is lightweight, waterproof, and filled with bison fiber and a recycled poly blend. The B100 ™ Fill Insulation is temperature-regulating, hypoallergenic, warm when wet, keeps its shape, and is lightweight and flexible. Bison fiber is usually discarded as waste within the ranching industry but can be a rather valuable byproduct—and that’s where United by Blue steps in. Why not use this excellent resource that keeps some of the toughest animals warm throughout the winter?

Not only are they using someone else’s waste, but each coat purchased removes 1 pound of trash from the world’s oceans and waterways.

Other great features of the Bison Puffer Jacket:

  • Internal storm flap

  • Soft and warm fleece-lined pockets {which feel great if you don’t have gloves on!}

  • Elastic sleeve cuff

  • Drawcords at hem {I’ve liked this during windy days}

  • Interior phone pocket with headphone port {even for the iPhone+}

I’m wearing the coat in a size Small, which has been great for layering sweaters and long sleeves since I’m usually a size XS. I’ve been needing a black jacket to go with everything, but it also comes in a pretty wine color if you want a pop of color!

I’m incredibly grateful to have this jacket with me during my travels. Nothing is worse than feeling cold and wet while walking around to see the sights. I’ll look for more bison fiber products in the future! It truly is a great sustainable alternative to down and other synthetics.

Bras Not Required | This Ethical Loungewear is Made to Live & Sleep In

This post is sponsored by JJ WINKS. Thanks for supporting the brands who are working to make the fashion industry a better place!

JJ Winks

A couple months ago, this brand sent me a few of their pieces and I have worn them A LOT. You probably have already seen their Hygge Robe in other posts :D psst.. here and here. But now it’s time to learn more about what makes this slow fashion brand so great…

Three Reasons to Love JJ Winks

You Can Go Braless: YES! They have built-in bras!! And they aren’t restricting at all. What they call their ‘light hug,’ each top comes with a built-in bra that gives the right amount of coverage yet is ridiculously comfortable. As a breastfeeding mama, I’ve loved this feature. I can quickly put in my cotton pads, which stay in place just great. It’s also rare to wear bras, and I now wish all of my clothes had this!

Perfect for the Home & Around Company: Not only is JJ WInks the most comfortable to wear at home, but you can also have some friends over and not feel the need to cover up or ‘get dressed.’ Or be like me and leave the house to run some errands. I’ve worn my JJ Winks to the grocery store several times, and I like to wear them to the beach and pool - if only I had these types of pjs in college! PJs you can get away with in and out of the bedroom is what I’ve always wanted!

Total Comfort with the Planet in Mind: This brand uses one of my favorite fabrics - Lenzing Modal. It’s a fabric, in my opinion, that offers the comfort cotton can’t while still being mindful of the planet and harvesting from sustainably grown Beech trees. I also always suggest this type of material to my friends who prefer not to wear silk - it has that smooth and sheen-like appearance, and it’s hard to find anything softer! Also, something very important to me is the way a garment washes. This modal washes very well, and the product feels just as smooth as when it arrived at your door. Plus, all their pieces are made fairly right in the USA {Los Angeles}!

What I’m Wearing

The Weekender Top in Charcoal with Waffle Panel: I love two features of this top: a built-in bra and easy to slide off the shoulder to breastfeed! While this tee can pass as a basic, it has a few extras to make it much more special, like its criss-cross back and flattering flutter sleeves.

The Walk of Fame Short in Charcoal: I like it when a pair of shorts sits slightly above the waistline so you can avoid that pesky muffin top. Especially after having a baby, I feel more confident when clothes flatter the waist.

Hygge Robe in Grey Rib: This robe! I can’t tell you how perfect this piece is for the home. As I said, this is my go-to around the house {and I bring it when shopping to combat the AC}.

Girl Trip Short Nightgown in Olive Rib: Olive is one of my favorite colors, and this nightgown is so comfortable to sleep in! I can roll out of bed, throw the Hygge Robe on, and go about my day like I tried ;)

If any dress can get you more questions of ‘WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?!’ - it’d be this one! Every time I’ve stepped out of the house in this sweet number, the Mario-inspired pockets have grabbed everyone’s attention. & bonus points - it’s also been an excellent piece for breastfeeding with the front buttons.

Shop the look:

Mustard Flower Pocket Dress, IKKIVI by Yogi $97
Probably the cutest dress I own, this IKKIVI piece {by designer Yogi} is made from handwoven organically dyed cotton. The pixel lotus motifs {from your favorite 90s Mario} are hand embroidered and have a unique touch to this quarter-sleeve-button-down-shift-like design. Quality is seen through and through; the hands that created the fabric have been doing so for a long time. The Yogi focuses their sustainable collection on reviving raw fiber and indigenous textiles. Their Spring/Summer 2018 Collection, ‘Life in Technicolor,’ contrasts the 90s, 8-bit pixelated video games with natural cotton and old weaving techniques. It’s the coolest balance to see the local and digital worlds combined.

IKKIVI is a curated online clothing store dedicated to slow fashion and Indian designers. See all the collections, here.
