keeping your restrooms healthy & toxic-free

It hasn't been long since I've started putting more emphasis on a sustainable bathroom. My journey went from food to clothing to bedroom to bathroom. I'm still learning little tricks to make my environment more eco-friendly {particularly healthy}, but these 10 brands are a great {& easy} start for those in the market for a little bathroom - eco - upgrade.

1. Tushy

No Butts About It, This Is THE Sustainable Way To Use The Potty. Wiping is so 2016... I don't think I can ever imagine my bathroom without a bidet after trying the Tushy out! Not only is it healthier for you, but you save money and trees by using a lot less TP. They even have bamboo TP which is so much easier on your bum and the planet. {oh AND it gives back! For every Tushy sold, a family in rural India is given one-month of access to clean community toilets.}

2. Living Fresh

Bringing The Luxurious Hotel Slumber To The Comfort Of Your Own Home. The perfect towels for creating a 'spa-like' atmosphere, Living Fresh specializes in luxurious Turkish towels & robes and even shower curtains. Their towels use a blend of cotton and Tencel+PlusTM which help to absorb water quickly and dry the body while exfoliating the skin. This blend of cotton and Tencel creates a wonderful recipe for comfort, softness and sustainability.

3. Mable

Make the Switch - Brush with Bamboo. I think most of us can agree, the plastic has got to go - bamboo is where it's at! Not only are Mable's bamboo toothbrushes biodegradable & chic, they give back to our communities, too. For every toothbrush purchased, one is given to a U.S. child. Did I also mention they are self-standing? I find this to be a game changer for storing your toothbrush. {p.s. they have kid brushes now!!}

4. Hope & Twine

Honest Goods For The Conscious Home. Hope & Twine is a curated collection of ethically-made products that support sustainable incomes while respecting the planet. Bree {the owner} truly has an eye for decorating your home, and her towels are the softest ever!!! They wash well, are very absorbent and a great price {$44 for a set or $25 for a single}.

5. Under the Canopy

A Sustainable Slumber That's Affordable, Organic & Fair. Under the Canopy's commitment to a cleaner planet and home goods industry is admirable. They adhere to 6 kinds of certifications {FAIR TRADE, GOTS, OEKO-TEX, C2C, RCS & FSC}, and sustainability is at the forefront of their business model. All products are made ethically with eco-minded materials. Their waffle robe is a must have after your shower!

6. Lakeshore Dry Goods

More Dry, Less Frizz & Damage-Free. Probably the most practical towel you will ever need if you have long hair! Each towel is made from GOTS Certified Organic Cotton {with low impact dyes}, and is incredibly lightweight & soft. It's a t-shirt type fabric with great stretch retention, too. Plus, they are made right in the US {Detroit}, and come in the sweetest prints!

7. Banyan Tree

Add moments of wellness into your eco oasis. Coined as 'A Sanctuary of the Senses', it's truly an experience taking in their botanical blends. Banyan Tree creates economic opportunity for many artisan communities around the globe. Besides sourcing all of their materials responsibly, each product is free of parabens and cruelty-free. Their oils are great to have on hand when taking your relaxing bath!

8. Unwrapped Life

Keeping plastic out of the shower. This is the first time I have ever tried bar shampoo and conditioner, and I must say, I'm hooked! These sustainable products not only work great, they are helping keep waste out of the landfill. It's a win-win! They are perfect for traveling, too. Just throw a bar in a tin, and you're set!

9. Orenda

Refresh Yourself With Earth's Finest Ingredients. Backed by a '100% Satisfaction Guarantee', this high-performance, luxury skincare line has been one of my favorites this past year. I use their Vitamin C Face Wash everyday in the shower to brighten up my mornings. There really isn't anything as refreshing!

10. Hannahpads

Because we keep these guys in the bathroom... Organic cloth pads are the most natural way to deal with bleeding, and they say women use up to 16,000 pads & tampons throughout her entire life. Disposable items take a crazy amount of resources to create, and most of them are even individually wrapped. That's a ton of waste we can avoid! You will love all their patterns, too :D
