The Dharma Door USA

Founded in 2004 by Shannon Sheedy, The Dharma Door began its journey of Fair Trade for fine living in Australia. A decade later, they decided to expand and offer their amazing selection of ethically and fairly produced goods to us in the States. Their good friends whom they met on a trip to Vietnam in 2003, Katie & William, launched The Dharma Door USA in the Spring of 2014. With their expertise in French antiques and film production, they were able to contribute something unique to the scene and within the first week, US customers were hooked!

My Small Jute Basket perfectly holds my favorite quilt {made by my mom}, plus a second blanket! So practical, and the color easily fits into any room. The baskets are handwoven with natural materials in Bangladesh where the artisan women mix traditional weaving with contemporary designs. The Jute plant is a soft and shiny vegetable fiber which can be spun into strong and durable threads. Another favorite item made from jute is their Macrame Door Curtain - I have been wanting to learn this art form for a bit now! Besides the gorgeous handmade baskets, curtains and bags, you can also find handprinted wrapping paper made from recycled - yes, you guessed it - jute paper.
