Wear Your Waste

A summer spent by the beach can take on a whole new meaning when what you wear is making a positive effect on the ocean. Hm, yeah that sentence may seem weird but it's true. When bikini season rolls around every summer, a lot of us go out and buy a new suit. Each suit uses a lot of resources to produce, and the majority of them are creating a new material that will sit on this planet for a long, long time. What if I told you there was a swimsuit line using what we already have {our waste} to clothe us for a refreshing dip in the pool? Wear Your Waste does exactly this by using a special yarn called ECONYL ®.

Why I Love Wear Your Waste

1. The fabric. They use the textile VITA {made from 78% ECONYL ® & 22% LYCRA XtraLife ®}  to create all of their swimsuits. The polyamide ECONYL ® is made of 100% textile waste and recycled fishing nets recovered from the sea. It is extremely soft, breathable, comfortable, and fast-drying! LYCRA XtraLife ® is used to add extra quality and durability to the suits. This fiber is ultra-chlorine & sunscreen resistant, non see-through and comes with UPF 50+ UV protection. Combine these two together and you got one quality-made swimsuit! ;)

2. The prints. Want to be unique? Their artists' prints are exclusive to them, and they are gorgeous!! My swimsuit's art is by Israeli textile designer and illustrator, Lital Gold, who currently resides in Philadelphia. She is inspired by elements of nature... can't you tell? :D Meet the other artists - here -

3. The versatility. Six of Wear Your Waste's styles are reversible! The one I am wearing can be switched over to a gorgeous turquoise color, and then the straps can be crisscrossed in the back for added support.

4. The manufacturing. They believe in ethical production & smaller carbon footprints so all swimsuits are made close to their home {Spain} in Italy with only european fabrics by skilled tailors who are properly paid.

5. The affordability. Yes - bottoms start at $38 and tops start at $45. Woo hoo!

What I'm Wearing

Lital Halter TopGorgeous print, stunning solid color when reversed and straps you can manipulate based on your activity {you can see how they transform the straps here}. What more do you want in a swimsuit top?!

Low Rise Bottom Nero II: Probably one of the best bottoms I've had in a swimsuit for a very long time. They are reversible, comfortable and they don't squeeze you so hard to where it gives you major muffin top {we appreciate this!}. I usually have zero confidence when it comes to taking photos in a swimsuit - but this one has made me feel a whole lot better!!

Remember, most of them are reversible so it's like buying two swimsuits for the price of one :D

Enjoy that Vitamin D, ladies!
