Fair OOTD | Jardin des Iris

OutfitsNatalie Kay

featuring IKURU & Órama

Little did I know how many species of irises exist... it's in the hundreds! Most of them, you can find all within this garden. Les Jardins du Chateau de Vullierens is situated about 20km NW of Lausanne, Switzerland, and is home to more than 400 varieties of irises and 200 varieties of day lilies. It's a private residence which means someone does own the prettiest garden in the world in their own backyard. They even have a secret garden! We went during the perfect time when most of the irises were in bloom. Truly magnificent view!!

Of course, I couldn't not visit such a garden without taking advantage of doing a Fair OOTD shoot. I think my IKURU dress was the perfect match for this magical backdrop. Their prints are always so fun to shoot, and you may remember seeing them on my blog last year

Why I Love IKURU

They are set out to create responsible fashion while supporting women in Mozambique, Africa. IKURU means strength in the Macua language, which exactly represents their mission. With only 4% of women having completed their primary education, the opportunity to work is scarce. IKURU wants to change this, and offer work to women coming from vulnerable social and economic backgrounds. In addition to training and work, the women are given free heath services with in-house training on community health.

All of their clothing is made from locally sourced fabrics, and each garment comes signed by the maker itself. I'm wearing the colorful MITI dress made by artisan Oycea. This dress features a high rounded collar, middle pleat AND invisible side pockets. Isn't the print amazing? Reminds me of a mermaid. Another world changer in the form of a bracelet...

Why I Love Órama

With each Órama bracelet, 10% of profits are donated to Opportunity International. This micro-financing organization is helping women in struggling communities get the chance to create their own business. Any type of jewelry supporting the creation of new jobs gets two thumbs up in my book :D Plus, these bracelets are gorgeous! I love the daintiness of the Golden Dust Vitality Bracelet.
