HOPE Made in the World

Clothing that fits, and fits in with the world.

So many words pop into my head when I think about this US-based brand - ethical, affordable, seasonless, cozy, practical - pretty much everything you want when it comes to your basics. HOPE Made in the World is here to help us transition into a more conscious wardrobe, starting with the essentials. I agree, it's much easier to begin this sustainable fashion journey with the garments you wear the most. This movement is all about appreciating and getting as much value as possible out of the clothes you purchase! Those everyday sweaters and tees need to be made to last, but most importantly they need to be made mindfully. Choosing the right fabrics, design and workers are essential in this process and HOPE Made in the World has that down...

Better yet, they have our men covered, too! HOPE Made in the World's women's collection features effortless tees, sweaters and scarves, and the men can choose from tees and polos, as well as scarves. They cover all our favorite basic colors - black, white, greys and a gorgeous burgundy {which to me, is a must! It's one of those colors you don't tire from}. Being the fabric lover that I am, I can't not emphasize their use of natural, soft fibers. HOPE Made in the World is serious about where their fabric is sourced, and have recently been certified under the Child Labor Free mark which ensures every step of the manufacturing process is free from child labor and holds high ethical standards for the workers involved. Since HOPE Made in the World does not produce everything in house or grow their own material {like most brands} working with certified farmers and factories, as well as logistic companies like eco-minded Verde, help keep the entire chain transparent and honest.

HOPE Made in the World uses three types of luxurious natural fibers - Organic Cotton, Peruvian Pima Cotton & Baby Alpaca. Their Organic Cotton is GOTS certified, and grown on a 5th generation family cotton farm in Texas which is one of the first certified organic farms in the country! This fabric is then shipped to Michigan where the T-Shirts are produced by a small factory specializing in recycling as much waste as possible. All the sweaters and scarves are produced in Arequipa, Peru at Waka-s, a family-owned manufacturing company. The sweaters are made from baby alpaca, one of the softest fibers around! It's softer than cashmere, and lighter, warmer and more durable than wool. Alpacas resemble small llamas, and have been a great sustainable source for fibers through many artisan generations. Pima Cotton, grown in the region of Piura, is used to create the scarves. This cotton is harvested by hand making it better for the environment and the finished product. It is more absorbent and softer than traditional cottons, and is great for those with sensitive skin. Because of the fiber's longer length, the cotton is also more durable and resists pilling {we hate when that happens, right?!}.

I'm wearing the effortless Baby Alpaca V-Neck Pullover Sweater . This oversized sweater is extremely comfortable, and one of those styles you can throw on with just about anything. The dropped shoulders and high-low slit seams gives this basic piece an updated look and flattering fit. You can even wear it off the shoulder for a more relaxed vibe. This sweater comes in three different colors - dark grey {pictured}, burgundy and light grey. If your closet is missing a practical, everyday sweater, I highly recommend adding this to your wardrobe!!
