Creating a Better Footprint with Upcycled Tires

FashionNatalie Kay

I'm very excited to share with you the world's FIRST upcycled-tire shoe! Pretty amazing, right? Instead of recycling, Tredagain's upcycling produces 100% clean, virgin rubber substitute called APX. With over 1 billion tire scraps ending up in landfills a year and emitting harmful toxins into the air, something had to be done to help decrease these numbers. Austin Footwear Labs, the parent company of Tredagain, are trying to provide an economically competitive and earth-friendly alternative for 65% of the 300 million tire scraps in North America. Their labs go through vigorous testing to give you the best quality shoe with the least amount of impact. For every five pair of sandals produced, a tire is saved from sitting in a landfill. So no running off to Target to get your summer flip flops - Tredagain are the ones to own!

From now on, when it comes to tires, 50,000 miles is just the beginning.

Tredagain makes sandals for both men and women, and in several colors. My favorite is the Sand color because I can pair it with anything, but for the summer have a little fun and switch it up with the Coral or Turquoise. I think the best part about these sandals {besides the obvious eco factor} is the comfort. They are not like the usual flip flops so many of us own - these ones I can wear all day and not complain! The part in between your toes doesn't rub, and your foot feels supported.

Sandals sell for $69.99, but Sustainably Chic readers can use code Chic20 for 20% off!! Click - here - to shop their entire collection.
