Fair OOTD | The Paola

featuring Zaachila & Project Bead

I think it is necessary I begin this post with explaining what my Fair OOTDs are trying to accomplish. I get the question, 'What is a Fair OOTD?' quite often, so I thought I'd do a quick refresh. A Fair OOTD {meaning Outfit of the Day} is a responsible ensemble made up of brands I find to be contributing to the great slow fashion movement. Every brand has a sustainable aspect, and is helping clean the industry up! For example, this look is composed of 4 wonderful brands, two of which I am going to highlight and brag about it for a bit ;)

As always, the bottom of my posts have all the links for the actual garment {or if sold out, it goes straight to their website!}.

It's going to be 96 degrees next week in Jax, FL {thankfully, I will be on the plane to Europe} but I'm feeling pretty equipped for the remainder of the summer with my couple pairs of sandals from Zaachila {I'm pictured wearing the Paola style here}. They are the perfect little slip ons, and are actually quite comfortable with their cotton braiding. I reserve my pair of flip flops for the beach only because, as much as I love them, they do not do my closet justice. These type of sandals are the flip flop alternative - your feet can still breath, feel light and not dress your outfit down. Plus, the back strap helps keep your foot snug. So what makes these sandals so special? For starters, Zaachila is helping preserve the Indigenous heritage of the Zapotec community in Oaxaca, Mexico. They work directly with a women-owned Zapotec business who works with 15 artisan communities to supply the fabric for these wonderful sandals. By bringing these goods to a new market, they are able to continue their traditional work while supporting their communities and families. Another amazing thing about these shoes, they are made from recycled and natural materials so they are one-of-a-kind, and all handmade by a family of 6. So YES - there is a lot of love, hard work and culture put into these little guys! Shop their online collection - here - & stay tuned for a 'European' Fair OOTD featuring another pair of their lovely sandals!

Excuse the wind-blown hair, but that's life :P No makeup crew on site!

Anyway - the second brand I want to introduce you to is called Project Bead. I'm featuring two of their pieces - the Kent Necklace & Hepburn Bracelet. Project Bead is a social enterprise that donates 100% of their profits to education, and this jewelry is helping fund education for students in Ghana. To this day, they have raised over $150k. Now, that is amazing!! Help them raise more by shopping their entire collection here :D
