A Fashion Accessory for Clean Water, Jobs & Sustainability

Simbi

A socially responsible accessories brand, Simbi creates all their products by hand in Haiti for Haiti. Through their own non-profit foundation, Aqua Haiti, each purchase you make goes towards water purification projects in Haiti’s communities, schools, and orphanages. They, currently, work with over 350 Haitian artisans, and many of them lack access to clean water, resulting in cholera outbreaks. Especially with recent events {the Earthquake in 2010 and this month's Hurricane Matthew}, Haiti needs our support more than ever. A wonderful way we can help is through our own purchasing power, and encouraging the continuation of beautiful brands like Simbi. This line is full of hope, love & inspiration - just what the bracelets say!

1 clay bracelet {like the ones pictured} supports 15 sustainable jobs & provides 10 gallons of clean water. The Simbi Clay Collection is made with one of their last natural resources available - the pure clay which they harvest from the mountains. The beads they create from this resource are organic, vegan, and biodegradable - they are even glazed with non-toxic paint! You can choose from over 30 different colors, and several different inspirational words :D Simbi's collection expands much further than beaded bracelets with necklaces, hair ties and headbands! I've been really getting back into my 90s days, and chokers have been put front-and-center in my jewelry box. My vegan friends will love their chokers, too, since they are made from an adjustable faux leather strap.

This month, Simbi is focusing a lot of their relief efforts within the southern region of Haiti which include the cities of Les Cayes, Jeremie, Port Salut and other small coastal villages. Hurricane Matthew completely wiped out their crops, livestock and clean water supply, as well as damaged the roads and bridges connecting them to mainland Haiti. These people affected have no food, no clean water, no medical supplies and no means of communication. Their team on location has been putting together thousands of care packages, as well as clean water. With a danger of widespread starvation and cholera, more help is desperately needed!!

Stay tuned for next week's Haiti Campaign I'm working together on with a group of ladies from the Ethical Writer's Coalition! We want to help you with complete relief transparency & provide you with options in the continued efforts to rebuild Haiti.
