7 Ethically-Made Rompers

Romper Delight

So, I got my first ever romper & now, I'm obsessed!! Thought I would push this new obsession on to everyone else ;) In this list you will find a few rompers in pant length since Fall is around the corner, but don't put the shorts away because they look great with tights.  Click below to see my favorites...

1. The Jump-In Romper + Vahi by MATTER

This is the romper which started it all. MATTER, a socially motivated clothing brand, has some of the most luxurious handmade fabrics coming from India's talented artisans. This print is inspired by the flow of clear spring water over pebbled riverbeds. Made with a medium weight cotton, this romper is ideal for warmer climates and is hand tied & dyed with azo-free dyes. The back is very glamorous with its low crossover drape, and the waistband is completed with beautiful tassel ends. See the rest of the lovely MATTER romper styles, here.

2. Block Printed Off-The-Shoulder Romper by Have Love, Must Travel

A capsule collection featuring sophisticated boho pieces, Have Love, Must Travel is hand blocking magic. Made in an ethical factory in India, their line is produced with hand carved block prints with a printing method passed down generation after generation in the East. Beautiful is an understatement - these designs are so well executed they bring fabric printing to a whole new level.

"Soft and breezy off shoulder romper an easy piece to throw on and look effortlessly flawless." - Have Love, Must Travel

3. Nalu Kua Organic Cotton Jumpsuit by Braintree

A UK based brand with eco-friendly fabrics and a slow fashion approach, Braintree has the mantra to live by when it comes to your clothing - ‘Wear Me, Love Me, Mend Me, Pass Me On’. I'm a bit of a fabric snob, and this brand puts a lot of time and energy into finding the perfect textiles. Hemp, Bamboo, Natural Wool, Organic Cotton, Recycled Poly, Rayon & Tencel... every fabric is sustainably sourced!

"Cinched in at the waist with room to adjust and gently tapering in the leg for a flattering shape." - Braintree

4. Maybe Romper by Liz Alig

What had started with a curious consumer asking a few simple questions about the way her clothes were made, Liz Alig has grown into an ethical fashion brand partnering with over ten fair trade cooperatives.

"This garment was made in Cambodia ... We work with a very small production facility in Phnom Penh that is very different then most of these factories.  They pay a fair wage, give benefits, and more paid Holidays than we get in the States. The fabric is sourced from the large amount of excess fabrics that are discarded from all the production facilities there." - Liz Alig

5. Taylor Utility Playsuit by Madia & Matilda

I've grown quite familiar with Madia & Matilda over the years, and have always been attracted to the way they create with upcycled fabrics. Shalize Nicholas, the founder, has an eye for found fabrics, and a passion for bringing new life to those textiles. With the UK being responsible for 350,000 tonnes of clothing sitting in the landfills a year, Madia & Matilda makes sure to use up all of their materials.

"Our best seller features a relaxed fit and is from our limited collection. Satin touch polyester created from end of use fabric." - Madia & Matilda

6. Asha Jumpsuit by Stormie Dreams

Being your own manufacturer has its benefits. You get to see all the work put into your clothing, and find the problems first hand. Stormie Dreams saw an opportunity within a LA manufacturing warehouse with the waste leftover from cutting. Using the leftovers and end of bolts from other brands, Stormie Dreams started its venture.

"Hugging you softly all day.  A straight leg jumpsuit with side pockets and a cross over front." - Stormie Dreams.

There is a pattern for everyone - from clipper ships & UFOs to colorful floral prints & funky dots - each print will surely put a smile on your face! Winter Water Factory specializes in USA-made screen printed textiles for babies, girls, boys and women.
