10 Ethical Dresses for the Sustainable Fashionista

It's Sustainably Chic's 2nd Birthday

& we are going to celebrate it in style.

If you haven't already noticed, I love dresses. They are easy, feminine & I can't seem to get enough of them. Since starting the blog two years ago today, I've stumbled across several different brands with some of the sweetest dresses on the market - H&M can take a hike. Here are my favorite ones {in no particular order} from some of the best ethical fashion brands in the world. Enjoy!

1. The Beach Cottage Dress by Mata Traders

A lovely sundress with pockets and buttons, the Beach Cottage is made at a fair trade women's cooperative in India, and is hand screen printed. With 100% cotton, this dress is light and perfect for the warmer months. Mata Traders is an ethical fashion company partnering with fair trade cooperatives in India and Nepal to bring us exciting & vibrant apparel and accessories. Here it is in action.

2. The Lattice Fitted Shift from Victoria Road

By Natalia Naveed, an emerging designer from Lahore, Pakistan, the patterns on this dress are influenced by Moroccan design with Western cuts and beautiful embroidery {stunning, right?}. It can easily be dressed up for a little cocktail party or worn with some flats for a more casual look. Read the blog post to learn more about Victoria Road.

3. The Coco by IKURU

This babydoll style dress is extremely flattering with the pleated seam at the waist, and is light enough to wear through the warmer months. It is made from African wax print capulana fabrics, and even comes personalized with the maker's name on the tag. Such an awesome way to feel connected to the people who make your clothes.
